One of Virginia's most impressive estates, Monticello offers visitors a look into the lifestyle of Thomas Jefferson. The grounds include a vegetable garden terrace, magnificent flower gardens, two vine-yards and a re-created orchard. The house itself is an architectural masterpiece as it brings his French influences home to Virginia countryside. Jefferson, whose grave is in the family cemetery on the estate, was the author of the Declaration of Independence, the 3rd President of the US and the founder of University of Virginia.

Torie wrote about the postcard and stamp's description. She sent me a matching postcard and stamp of a railway station. According to her, this is a view of the Mogilev Railway Station.
Mogilev is a city in eastern Belarus, about 76 km from the border with Russia's Smolensk Oblast and 105 km from the border with Russia's Bryansk Oblast. It is the centre of Mahilyow voblast and the third largest city in Belarus.

China's Pumi Ethnic Group Dance
Zhengyangmen Tower in the 1930s

Private swap with romanceisboring
Dated: February 5, 2011

Cassie posted in the Requests sections looking for churches around the world. Knowing that the Philippines has numerous churches, cathedrals and temples, I offered to swap with her. These two are the ones I chose from her lovely postcard offers.

The first one is an ink painting depicting a Chinese folk dance. I wonder how this dance looks like when in motion. This still painting is quite interesting, with the flow of the woman's dress. I chose this card because of the wonderful colors and the costume itself. It looks wonderful doesn't it?

The second one is a painting of The Zhengyangmen Tower in the 1930's. Here is what's said on the card:
There use to be two small temples in front of the gate tower and a gate in the wall on each side. The temples and wall were dismantled in the 1950s and now only the gate tower remains.
Cassie also included an adorable bookmark shaped like an icecream. I'm particularly fond with adorable things to you could get from China. There are so many accessories and trinkets from China in some of the markets here, especially Divisoria. I always control myself when I see them. Hehe.

Shangri-La stamps Cassie used (She even made a detailed description for each one of them!):
L-R, T-B: Songzanlin Temple, Chang Jiang River, Pulada National Park,
Dukezong Ancient Town and Qinghai Lake

Sussex from the Old English Sūþsēaxe ('South Saxons'), is an historic county in South East England corresponding roughly in area to the ancient Kingdom of Sussex. It is bounded on the north by Surrey, east by Kent, south by the English Channel, and west by Hampshire, and is divided for local government into West Sussex and East Sussex and the city of Brighton and Hove. The city of Brighton & Hove was created a unitary authority in 1997; and was granted City status in 2000. Until then Chichester had been Sussex's only city.
Thank you so much for this wonderful swap Lucy!

This swap is one of the few special ones for me. This is my second time swapping with Megan. She put up a thread offering postcards sent from the United Nations Headquarters in New York. How awesome is that? I immediately grabbed the opportunity to have a card sent from there. Thank you so much Megan for this swap!
