Private swap with Grettaa
Dated: February 6, 2011

A beautiful postcard of Klaipeda in Lithuania. Oh, and this is my first card received from Greta's country. Because of this card, I realized how much I love aerial views. I love seeing the architecture, streets and pathways. It's nice to see the structure of a city.

It seems that a lot of us couldn't wait for summer. Just like Greta, I love the beach!

Postcard 37 | Traditional Festivals of Japan Mapcard
JP-151749 from tinktink0302
Dated: February 14, 2011

A postcard from my Postcrossing Favorites album! Yay! Another mapcard has found it's way to my collection. This time it's this Festivals Picture Map of Japan. It came from a person who I always see around the forums but never had the chance to had a little chat with. If I'm not mistaken, this is the second postcard I received from a known forum member, the first from norbaer

Sumie tells me that she is originally from Aomori (which is there on the postcard somewhere) where Nebuta Matsuri is held. According to her, it  is very old and one of the three big summer festivals in Japan.

She used a lot of interesting stamps on the postcard, especially these marked with 1964 and 1972. I've been trying to figure out what are these, but I can't seem to find them on the online lists. Maybe somebody could help me?

The said stamps and this adorable Air Mail stamp mark.

Postcard 35 | Mike's Brainstorm Movie Poster
NL-546164 from sasgm

My first Free Boomerang Cards postcard (It says that on the back). I have no complaints on this one. I didn't know there are ad cards like these. Saskia told me that this is a poster of an American film from 1912 and is in the collection of their national film museum. She also recommended a movie named "The Band's Visit" wherein an Egyptian police band visits Israel for a concert only to find themselves on the wrong town.

Maraming salamat Saskia!

Gratis Postcards from CaptainSoul
Gratis is the process of providing goods or services without compensation. It is often referred to in English as "free of charge" (FOC) or "complimentary".
Would you believe I got these cards for free? Ronald (CaptainSoul) posted a very generous offer of sending his excess cards for free. I was lucky enough to be one of the early birds and I was able to get these three mapcards from his offers. Thank you so much again Ronald!

Private swap with Ami10 (Amiya)

According to Amiya, this card shows the typical Indian snippets - Woman in a Sari & bindi, classical dance Kathakali, good luck charms, etc. I chose this card particularly because of these elements. I love it when one card can tell so much about a country and it's culture. Isn't this card a gem?

Just yesterday, I saw a show in National Geographic about a traveler exploring India. He was there particularly to explore the insects in the country's forests and the common parasites that causes different illnesses. It was quite educational, since I can relate thanks to hours and hours of pain-staking Microbiology classes. I was amazed with this parasite the body lice. I've heard one that pesters our human scalps, not the one that clings to our clothes. Ew, right.

Omelette du fromage?
- Dexter, Dexter's Laboratory

Do you remember that unforgettable line from Dexter's Laboratory? I remembered after watching that episode, my sister and I kept on repeating the line with different voices like a broken record. Our parents was so annoyed at us that day. Haha. I'm sorry I had just to do that since this post includes, cheese and the Eiffel Tower.

This wonderful, generous swap is with Joyce from The Netherlands. She traded 2 Nouvelles Images for 1 of her favorites. My first 2 Nouvelles Images card! I've been wanting to receive a multiples card for the longest time. Joyce, by the way, sells some of these cards and others over at her site: Ogi Post.

Canada and World Tag from abw92
Dated: January 25, 2011

The moose is one of Canada's most massive animals. A cow moose, such as this mother with her young may weigh 360 kg.
A cow moose with her young. The one in the middle looks a bit scared, don't you think? Or maybe it was caught in quite an awkward position. Thank you so much April for finding a card fit for my collection.

An adorable Polar Bear stamp!

Spain to the Rest of the World tag from earwen
Dated: February 2, 2011

An absolutely wonderful view of the peninsula "La Magdalena" in Santander, Spain. I love the aerial view and feeling that it gives off. It's getting quite humid here again, I badly want to go to the beach and cool down. This postcard makes me want to leave everything and go to La Union to have a day-off there and enjoy the beach and the sun.
